Prayer and remembrance help us reconnect with that original state, peeling back layers of forgetfulness and conditioning.
Before the beginning, there was no ticking clock. No galaxies spinning. No atoms dancing. There was only God. We were chosen before time. Called before the cosmos was created. Worship is not a response to existence — it is the reason for it.
Before the beginning, there was only God — not ‘a god’, not ‘one of many’ — but the One. The Absolute. The Eternal. The One whose Oneness is beyond number, beyond division, beyond time.
[21:21] Have they found gods on earth who can create? [21:22] If there were in them (the heavens and the earth) other gods beside GOD, there would have been chaos. Glory be to GOD; the Lord with absolute authority. He is high above their claims.
Worship isn’t just devotion—it’s alignment with the one unopposed source of truth, power, and love.
So what about that child back in the 60’s who was seeking God’s face at night. It was instinct placed in my soul by God. It was God guiding me to Him, MashaAllah. And it was my response. That longing has never left me. Even now, only God guides me. It’s why I return to my Contact Prayers—five times, every day. Because seeking His face… is more than prayer. It’s not ritual. It’s not routine. It’s alignment. It’s unity, It’s remembrance. It’s our soul saying: we hear and we obey. I know where I belong. I know where I want to go. May God forgive all the submitters and save a place for all of us in Paradise.
And my only purpose in life, all of us, our only purpose in this life, is to worship God alone.
New Year’s is the time many people make resolutions for the coming year. It’s a promise to do better, like give up smoking, eat healthier, exercise more regularly. But rarely do these resolutions focus on worshiping God more.
[7:51] Those who do not take their religion seriously, and are totally preoccupied with this worldly life, we forget them on that day, because they forgot that day, and because they spurned our revelations.
What does that mean? Spurn means to reject something with disdain or contempt. It means to push away or refuse to accept something or someone. In this case, it is God’s words, His guidance, His mercy. People don’t try to do more righteous works; they completely reject God’s revelations. They often look for someone or something else to worship.
As submitters, we know that only God is worthy of worship. WOW! Worthy of Worship. Worthy means having worth or value. It means one is deserving of respect, admiration and support. Worship means to honor or show reverence, particularly to a divine being.
People worship a variety of things depending on their religious beliefs. They may worship their ancestors, spirits, the angels, the saints, or worldly things like money and power. But idol worship of any kind is a dangerous thing. It’s the devil’s tool to turn us away from God. What does God say about idol worship? He calls it the unforgivable sin.
The Unforgivable Sin
[4:116] GOD does not forgive idol worship (if maintained until death), and He forgives lesser offenses for whomever He wills. Anyone who idolizes any idol beside GOD has strayed far astray.
[16:73] Yet, they worship beside GOD what possesses no provisions for them in the heavens, nor on earth, nor can provide them with anything.
And He reminds us that on the Day of Resurrection, idols will not only not help anyone, but they will disown those who idolized them. [16:86] And when those who committed idol worship see their idols, they will say, "Our Lord, these are the idols we had set up beside You." The idols will then confront them and say, "You are liars."
Appendix 27 asks the question: Who is your God? And the answer is “Your God is whoever or whatever occupies your mind most of the time.” It can be anything that takes our focus off of God, like our job, money, or family. That becomes our idol. We need to bring our focus back to God alone. And He tells us in the Quran why He is the only one worthy of worship.
God Alone Worthy of Worship
[6:46] Say, "What if GOD took away your hearing and your eyesight, and sealed your minds; which god, other than GOD, can restore these for you?" Note how we explain the revelations, and note how they still deviate!
[27:60] Who is the One who created the heavens and the earth? Who is the One who sends down to you from the sky water, whereby we produce gardens full of beauty―you could not possibly manufacture its trees? Is it another god with GOD? Indeed, they are people who have deviated.
[27:61] Who is the One who made the earth habitable, caused rivers to run through it, placed on it mountains, and created a barrier between the two waters? Is it another god with GOD? Indeed, most of them do not know.
[27:62] Who is the One who rescues those who become desperate and call upon Him, relieves adversity, and makes you inheritors of the earth? Is it another god with GOD? Rarely do you take heed.
[27:63] Who is the One who guides you in the darkness of land and sea? Who is the One who sends the winds with good news, signaling His mercy? Is it another god with GOD? Most exalted is GOD, above having any partner.
