In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Peace be upon you,

[Quran 25:62] He is the One who designed the night and the day to alternate: a sufficient proof for those who wish to take heed, or to be appreciative.


If we just look at the phenomenon of day and night, we can marvel at the greatness of God. God created the night and the day and perfectly designed the pieces to make it possible--the earth, the sun, the atmosphere, the stars, the moon, and more (21:30-33). His system is balanced, half the earth is in darkness and half in light. When you fly internationally, you can see the flight map, showing where the night is overtaking the day or vice versa.

In addition to the earth's rotation, the tilt in its axis is important, for example, it makes changes in seasons possible. In winter, we in the northern hemisphere have less day and more night, while places like Australia are enjoying long days. Slowly but steadily, the days of February begin to be noticeably longer and by May and June, we are having longer hotter days and places like Alaska and Sweden hardly see night at all.

If the earth stopped spinning and night or day were perpetual, life as we know it would not exist. And if the earth's axis weren't tilted, days would be fixed in length. There would be no looking forward to a summer swim, a winter sleigh ride, spring flowers or fall colors. We would not know of longer days for planting and harvesting and the shorter colder days for indoor activities. Our life and world would lose much of its diversity.

All of this God has made possible for us, and He tells us it's among His proofs. Thank You God.
