Subject: [Masjid Tucson] Submission weekly reminder In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful Peace be upon you, [Quran 3:200] O you who believe, you shall be steadfast, you shall persevere, you shall be united, you shall observe GOD, that you may succeed. [Quran 42:43] Resorting to patience and forgiveness reflects a true strength of character. A quality of the righteous is sabr--which encompasses patience, steadfastness, and perseverance. This trait applies both to our daily worship and to times of trial. For instance, we are commanded to remain steadfast in our worship of God (Quran 19:65). Likewise, the righteous are described as those who persevere through persecution, hardship, and war (Quran 2:177). These examples remind us that, regardless of circumstance, we must strive to submit fully to God--without objection, anger, or complaint. Consider also the example of the prophet Jacob, who, despite losing his son Joseph for many years, responded with quiet patience (Quran 12:18), trusting in God's plan and believing that there was a good reason for everything. May God help us to be reverent and be among those who steadfastly persevere (Quran 2:45, 2:153).
