Subject: [Masjid Tucson] Submission weekly reminder In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful Peace be upon you, [Quran 2:185] Ramadan is the month during which the Quran was revealed, providing guidance for the people, clear teachings, and the statute book. Those of you who witness this month shall fast therein. Those who are ill or traveling may substitute the same number of other days. GOD wishes for you convenience, not hardship, that you may fulfill your obligations, and to glorify GOD for guiding you, and to express your appreciation. Fasting during the month of Ramadan helps our souls grow closer to God. In Quran 2:183 we are told, "... fasting is decreed for you, as it was decreed for those before you, that you may attain salvation." Fasting is a gift for our souls and provides us opportunities to glorify and thank God for guidance, provisions and more. Additionally, fasting during the month of Ramadan restores our expanded stomachs to their normal sizes, lowers our blood pressure through temporary dehydration, rids the body of harmful toxins, gives our kidneys a much needed rest, and reduces our weight by removing excessive and harmful fat. This year Ramadan begins Feb 28 / Mar 1 depending on the part of the world we are in. For the fasting dates for your location, please see: https://www.masjidtucson.org/submission/practices/ramadan/rc/ As we work on our souls this Ramadan, let us try to be the best soul we can. Let us give up what's unhealthy for our soul, find good thoughts and our best behavior. We can't be perfect, but we can try our hardest.
