Condemning killing by ISIS of Christians (and other minorities) in the name of Islam

Barbaric behavior by ISIS / ISIL violates Quranic laws on absolute freedom of religion and the verses forbidding murder; actions are completely against Submission (Islam)

Masjid Tucson condemns the recent barbaric killings and violence against Christians and other minorities like Yazidis in the Iraq region by the so-called "Islamic group" ISIS (also known as ISIL).

Satan has surely gotten hold of those who claim to be "Muslims" but in the same breath they call for the killing of innocents. We know in the Quran that life is Sacred (6:151, 17:33, 25:68). There is never a reason to justify murder and aggression in Quran (5:32, 2:85, 5:87, 2:190).

[2:85] Yet, here you are killing each other, and evicting some of you from their homes, banding against them sinfully and maliciously. Even when they surrendered, you demanded ransom from them. Evicting them was prohibited for you in the first place. Do you believe in part of the scripture and disbelieve in part? What should be the retribution for those among you who do this, except humiliation in this life, and a far worse retribution on the Day of Resurrection? GOD is never unaware of anything you do.

The Quran supports absolute freedom of religion (2:256, 18:29). The practice of killing people because of their choice to follow a different religion is a Satanic innovation which violates a number of Quranic principles (2:256; 4:90; 10:99; 18:29; 88:21-22).

No Compulsion in Religion

[2:256] There shall be no compulsion in religion: the right way is now distinct from the wrong way. Anyone who denounces the devil and believes in GOD has grasped the strongest bond; one that never breaks. GOD is Hearer, Omniscient.

Further, the Quran teaches clearly in 2:62, 5:69, & 60:8 that the Jews and Christians who (1) believe in God, (2) believe in the Hereafter, and (3) lead a righteous life, are believers who will go to heaven.

Unity of All Submitters

[2:62] Surely, those who believe, those who are Jewish, the Christians, and the converts; anyone who (1) believes in GOD, and (2) believes in the Last Day, and (3) leads a righteous life, will receive their recompense from their Lord. They have nothing to fear, nor will they grieve.

The so-called "Islamic" groups would do well to follow God's laws. A community or nation that upholds God's laws is characterized by:

Maximum freedom for the people - freedom of religion, freedom of expression, freedom to travel, and freedom of economy (2:256, 10:99, 88:21-22).
Guaranteed human rights for all the people, regardless of their race, color, creed, social status, financial situation, or political affiliation (5:8, 49:13).
