Subject: [Masjid Tucson] Submission weekly reminder In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful Peace be upon you, As Ramadan comes to a close, we appreciate the many opportunities God gives us to grow our souls. Some of us make extra efforts during Ramadan to please God including dhikr (commemoration), studying Quran, or other righteous works. But what happens after that? Do we maintain that new level of piety and faith, or do we get complacent and allow ourselves to slack off and let our heightened God-awareness wane? We shouldn't treat Ramadan as just one month to be set aside for worshiping God. It should be preparation and practice for how to live our lives the year round. For example, we can take time to meditate on God any night for extra credit (Quran 17:78-80). And which of us does not need extra credit with God? Meditation [Quran 17:79-80] During the night, you shall meditate for extra credit, that your Lord may raise you to an honorable rank. And say, "My Lord, admit me an honorable admittance, and let me depart an honorable departure, and grant me from You a powerful support." [33:41-42] O you who believe, you shall remember GOD frequently.* You shall glorify Him day and night. *33:41-42 Your god is whatever occupies your thoughts most of the time. Hence the commandment to commemorate God and glorify Him day and night. See Appendix 27.
