Subject: [Masjid Tucson] Submission weekly reminder In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful Peace be upon you, Suspicion leads us away from God. If we suspect our fellow Submitters, relatives, neighbors or colleagues our behavior towards them usually changes. It can cause others to notice that change and wonder what the problem may be; increasing the negativity towards the person. Moreover, our behavior can hurt the victim who may not even know the cause of our behavior. In verses 49:11-12 of the Quran, God tells us to set a good example by avoiding behaviors such as ridiculing, mocking, suspicion or backbiting. God strongly reminds us to repent for sins we have committed. God exhorts us to stay away from even the tiniest bit of suspicion. If we truly believe that God is in control of all things (including other people's hearts and minds) and put our trust in Him alone, there is no need to suspect. Suspicion Is Sinful [Quran 49:12] O you who believe, you shall avoid any suspicion, for even a little bit of suspicion is sinful. You shall not spy on one another, nor shall you backbite one another; this is as abominable as eating the flesh of your dead brother. You certainly abhor this. You shall observe GOD. GOD is Redeemer, Most Merciful. Following God's command is our duty and we must remember not to fall into Satan's traps of suspicion or backbiting.
