Peace be upon you,

The Quran clearly expresses the equality of men and women, and supports defending women's rights (Quran 33:35, 3:195, 4:1, 4:124, 16:97, 9:71, 40:40, etc.). Ironically, so-called Islamic countries have very poor records for gender inequality world-wide. Needless to say, the abominable treatment of women by ISIS, Taliban and Boko haram (among others), has no basis in God's religion of Submission ("Islam" in Arabic).


     Equality of Men and Women
[Quran 33:35] The submitting men, the submitting women, the believing men, the believing women, the obedient men, the obedient women, the truthful men, the truthful women, the steadfast men, the steadfast women, the reverent men, the reverent women, the charitable men, the charitable women, the fasting men, the fasting women, the chaste men, the chaste women, and the men who commemorate GOD frequently, and the commemorating women; GOD has prepared for them forgiveness and a great recompense.


A visible symbol of the mistreatment of women is the "hijab" requirement in so-called Muslim lands. Dressing modestly is a trait of the believing men and women (Quran 24:30-31). The minimum requirements for a woman's dress is to lengthen her garment (Quran 33:59) and to cover her chest. Tyrannical Arab traditions have given a false impression that a woman must be covered from head to toe; such is not a Quranic or Islamic dress.
