Subject: [Masjid Tucson] Submission weekly reminder In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful Peace be upon you, Was Jesus God? The answer may come as a shock to many Christians. Jesus never said he was God. Actually, he said over and over, and in many ways, that he was not God. In the Bible we read: Jesus proclaimed aloud: "Whoever puts faith in me believes not so much in me as in him who sent me; ..... For I have not spoken on my own; no, the Father who sent me has commanded me what to say and how to speak. Since I know that his commandment means eternal life, whatever I say is spoken just as he instructed me." [ John 12:44-50 ] "...Go to my brothers and tell them, `I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.' " [ John 20:17 ] Similarly, we read in the Quran: [Quran 5:72] ... The Messiah himself said, "O Children of Israel, you shall worship GOD; my Lord and your Lord." Anyone who sets up any idol beside GOD, GOD has forbidden Paradise for him, and his destiny is Hell. The wicked have no helpers. [Quran 19:30] ... "I am a servant of GOD. He has given me the scripture, and has appointed me a prophet. The first commandment since Adam has always been to worship God alone. A commandment that Jesus upheld and preached (Matthew 22:36-37, Quran 5:117). Hear, O Israel! The Lord our God is One God! Therefore you shall adore the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. [Deuteronomy 6:4-5, Luke 12:29-30, Quran 3:18] References: Jesus, http://www.masjidtucson.org/quran/appendices/appendix22.html JESUS: Myths & Message, http://www.masjidtucson.org/publications/books/jesus/ The Plain Truth About Christmas, http://www.masjidtucson.org/publications/books/sp/2008/dec/page1.html Peace.
