Subject: [Masjid Tucson] Submission weekly reminder In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful Peace be upon you, When Abraham implored God in 14:40, he did not ask for wealth or health; the gift he implored for was: "Please God, make me one who observes the contact prayers (Salat)." The Contact Prayers (Salat) are unlike any other prayer. When we recite Sura 1, "The Key," during our Contact Prayers, something happens in the universe, and we establish contact with our Creator. Salat is our opportunity to communicate directly with God, Lord of the universe. A gift very few are privileged to receive. As we say our Contact Prayers (Salat) we must remember that we are in the presence of God. In a meeting with the President of our country or an important client, we would be very focused. We must give God our full attention during our Contact Prayers as these "meetings" are the only ones that truly matter in the whole day! The Contact Prayers protect us from vice, bring us happiness, and help us grow our soul in preparation for the Hereafter (Quran 2:44, 20:14, 20:130, 29:45). The Contact Prayers (Salat) [Quran 29:45] You shall recite what is revealed to you of the scripture, and observe the Contact Prayers (Salat), for the Contact Prayers prohibit evil and vice. But the remembrance of GOD (through Salat) is the most important objective. GOD knows everything you do. {footnote} *29:45 Your god is whatever occupies your mind most of the time (see 20:14 & Appendix 27).
