Subject: [Masjid Tucson] Submission weekly reminder In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful Peace be upon you, While peer pressure often strikes the youth, the pressure to conform to social or workplace expectations can affect adults too (Quran 29:25). Any time we choose to please humans instead of God (it does not matter if it's drinking alcohol or cheating a customer), we are placing humans above God. This is tantamount to idol worship. Social Pressure: A Profound Disaster [Quran 29:25] He said, "You worship beside GOD powerless idols due to peer pressure, just to preserve some friendship among you in this worldly life. But then, on the Day of Resurrection, you will disown one another, and curse one another. Your destiny is Hell, wherein you cannot help one another." Instead of giving in to human wishes, with God's help we remain steadfast. We obey His commands, seek forgiveness for our mistakes, and seek refuge in Him when we are tempted. [Quran 7:201-202] Those who are righteous, whenever the devil approaches them with an idea, they remember, whereupon they become seers. Their brethren ceaselessly entice them to go astray. [Quran 2:153] O you who believe, seek help through steadfastness and the Contact Prayers (Salat). GOD is with those who steadfastly persevere.
