Subject: [Masjid Tucson] Submission weekly reminder In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful Peace be upon you, What is the view of Submission (Islam) on killing a terrorist like Osama Bin Laden? Terrorism is a gross offense in Submission and the Quran strongly condemns the killing of innocents (Quran 5:32). God tells us that life is sacred (6:151, 17:33). Bin Laden claimed responsibility for the Sept 11, 2001 attacks, and the deaths of thousands of people. Grossness of Murder [Quran 5:32] ... anyone who murders any person who had not committed murder or horrendous crimes, it shall be as if he murdered all the people. And anyone who spares a life it shall be as if he spared the lives of all the people. Our messengers went to them with clear proofs and revelations, but most of them, after all this, are still transgressing. While the Quran discourages capital punishment, it is justified in extreme cases (Quran 5:33). Further, as 5:33 says, the retribution in Hell is far worse for such people.
