Paris terrorist attacks: against the teachings of Submission to God (Islam)

International Community of Submitters (ICS) / Masjid Tucson offers our sincere condolences to the families of the victims of the terror attacks in Paris, France.

Terrorists supposedly taking the name of God (Allah in Arabic) and speaking in the name of "Islam" have injured and killed a large number of innocent people throughout Paris including at the Bataclan theater and near the Stade de France. We strongly condemn these satanic terrorist attacks which are against God's religion and the peaceful teachings of the Quran.

The religion of Submission to God (Islam in Arabic) and the Quran forbid all kinds of aggression and never permit murder. God teaches us in the Quran that life is sacred (Quran 6:151, 17:33, 25:68), and there should be maximum freedom for all people, including the freedom of religion (Quran 2:256, 10:99, etc.).

The Major Commandments

[Quran 6:151] Say, "Come let me tell you what your Lord has really prohibited for you: You shall not set up idols besides Him. You shall honor your parents. You shall not kill your children from fear of poverty―we provide for you and for them. You shall not commit gross sins, obvious or hidden. You shall not kill―GOD has made life sacred―except in the course of justice. These are His commandments to you, that you may understand."

Grossness of Murder

[Quran 5:32] Because of this, we decreed for the Children of Israel that anyone who murders any person who had not committed murder or horrendous crimes, it shall be as if he murdered all the people. And anyone who spares a life it shall be as if he spared the lives of all the people. Our messengers went to them with clear proofs and revelations, but most of them, after all this, are still transgressing.

God also teaches us in the Quran that He does not love the aggressors (Quran 2:190-193). Terrorists are not Submitters to God (Muslims in Arabic). The Quran informs us that a righteous person must never aggress, nor be violent or belligerent (Quran 5:87, 7:33, 42:42, 50:24-25, 22:72, and many more verses).

[Quran 5:87] O you who believe, do not prohibit good things that are made lawful by GOD, and do not aggress; GOD dislikes the aggressors.

[Quran 3:104] Let there be a community of you who invite to what is good, advocate righteousness, and forbid evil. These are the winners.

Some terrorists in ISIS / ISIL claim it was a fair retaliation for military action elsewhere. To kill innocent people in Paris because of a war going on in the Middle East started by ISIS themselves is not justice. It's unjust and evil, plan and simple. The law of equivalence in the Quran is a life-saving law, not grounds for murder (please see the Quranic views on: Criminal Justice ; in brief: the principle of equivalence discourages capital punishment even in the case of murder, Quran 2:178-179, and encourages due process of law and justice).

To summarize, the religion of Islam (Submission) forbids murder and terrorist attacks in all forms. The Quran teaches absolute freedom of religion (2:256, 18:29), and God makes it clear that life is sacred (6:151, 17:33, 25:68). The focus is on worship of God and seeking God's approval in our daily lives. Our worship is best observed in peace (2:126, 14:35).

We suggest readers see what God says in the Quran by reading it themselves.
